Savoyard Blackjack
A blackjack game made in Savoie.
How to play Savoyard Blackjack?
- Savoyard Blackjack uses a classic 52-card deck, shuffled at the start of each game. Each player receives two face-up cards while the dealer (here called "the Savoyard") gets only one. The objective is simple: score higher than the dealer without ever exceeding 21 points.
- Cards from 2 to 10 keep their numerical value. Face cards (Jack, Queen, King) are worth 10 points. The Ace, more clever than fondue in winter, can count as 1 or 11 depending on what suits the player to reach the most favourable score.
- After the initial deal, the player can either draw a new card ("hit") or stay with their current score ("stand"). If the player goes above 21 while drawing, the round ends immediately and the Savoyard wins.
- Once the player has finished, the dealer plays. They must draw until reaching at least 17 points. If the Savoyard busts (over 21), the player wins automatically. Otherwise, scores are compared.
- If the player's score is higher than the dealer's (without exceeding 21), they win the round and double their symbolic point stake. On a tie, the round is null and no points are lost. If the dealer scores higher, they take the win and the player loses one point. The game can then start again for a rematch!
